MEDICINE HAT, AB – The return of the Southern Alberta Summer Games will be delayed for at least another year.

A release from the City of Medicine Hat says impacts related to the COVID-19 pandemic have created difficulties for the region and no host community was secured.

Plans are still in the works to host the games next summer with more details expected in the coming months. Communities in the region have also been sent letters requesting they consider hosting the games into 2026.

The last time the games were held was in Pincher Creek in 2019, for the 50th anniversary. More than 2,000 athletes attended the four-day festival.
