UCP Justin Wright and NDP Cathy Hogg focused on campaigning ahead of election

MEDICINE HAT, AB – With today being day one of the campaign, local UCP and NDP candidates spent the day setting up signs and knocking on doors within the Cypress-Medicine Hat and Brooks-Medicine Hat ridings.

And it’s all in hopes of gaining the majority of your votes.

Wright says that within his campaigning, he will focus on connecting with the community and getting their feedback, and putting forward a message that’s community-minded.

“We have one of the fastest and growing economies in all of Canada, and it’s really going to be landing that message of moving Alberta forward and shaking off the old way of doing things locally, and just really focus on us becoming the strongest corner of Alberta,” said Wright.

Wright says he’s focused on job creation, getting people healthcare when they need it, and putting Alberta’s interests forward.

Considering it’s Wright’s first time running as well, he says he’s connecting with other leaders federally and municipally during this time and asking about their best practices.

As for the NDP candidate, Cathy Hogg, she says she offers a lot of work experience and cares about serving the community, as she’s from Medicine Hat.

Hogg wants to make sure voices are heard in all the forgotten parts of the province, and she’s anxious to share all her policies and platform positions.

“Healthcare and the economy, and education – I’d say that if people want a government that is going to improve healthcare, that’s going to make sure funding is there for growth and education, to make sure we’re bringing better paying jobs, while supporting our small businesses and oil industry – we’re the party to vote for,” said Hogg.

Hoggs says getting to every single door, apartment and house creates some challenge, but her and her volunteers are doing the best they can to reach everyone.

The candidates will continue campaigning, as they are following a strict schedule.
