Police charge man in relation to home made pipe bombs

MEDICINE HAT — A 40 year old Medicine Hat man has been charged after two suspicious devices were found in the city in the past six months.

The first instance was November 23 last year in the area of Terrace Drive and 11 Avenue NE.

A homemade pipe bomb was found and safely disposed of by the MHPS Explosives Disposal Unit.

The second instance was April 1 this year, when a homemade pipe bomb was found around Cactus Street SW.

It was also safely disposed of by the Explosives Disposal Unit.

As part of their investigation, police searched a home in the 300 block of 11 Street SW before laying charges.

The 40 year old suspect is charged with possession of a controlled substance, 2 counts of making or possessing explosive substance and 4 counts of failing to comply with a release order.

James Jerard McNulty is scheduled to appear in Medicine Hat Provincial Court May 25.
