Medicine Hat, AB–Hatters have a new way to be more informed on the issues impacting the city.

Medicine Hat City Council and the City of Medicine Hat have launched a new podcast pilot called “Public Matters”.

The first episode focusing on the Strong Towns initiative and the city’s participation in the Community Action Lab is available on the the city’s website right now.

Hosted by Mayor Linnsie Clark and radio veteran Jay Hitchen, the podcast aims to take an in depth look at important topics. The monthly podcast will feature guests from the community as well as within the City of Medicine Hat organization.

In talking about the podcast, Mayor Clark stated, “it is important for Council to give the public as many opportunities as possible to understand the ongoing activities at City Hall. One of our Council’s goals in the strategic plan is to openly and proactively communicate with the community at large. The podcast is an accessible way for residents to deep dive into issues and topics that are at top of mind, and have the information presented in a digestible way that is clear and concise.”

Public Matters is a six-month pilot airing March to August of 2023 and will be released the fourth Thursday of every month on a variety of podcast apps.

Members of the public are encouraged to provide feedback, ask questions, and suggest topics by sending an email to publicmatters@medicinehat.ca.
