Two Edmonton police officers killed while responding to a call

Edmonton police say two patrol officers have been killed while responding to a call.

The force did not immediately release any details about what happened.

Police chief Dale McFee and other dignitaries are to make brief formal statements later today.

Police say further details will be released once they’re confirmed.

According to Global News the incident happened in the central Edmonton neighbourhood of Inglewood just after 1 a.m. when the officers were responding to a call about a domestic dispute.

The male suspect is now dead, one woman is in hospital.

There is a large police presence in the area on Thursday morning and an apartment building has been taped off.

The Edmonton Police Service says it is mourning the loss of two of its patrol officers.
