Alberta, Saskatchewan ban TikTok on government-issued devices

Alberta and Saskatchewan are following the federal government’s lead and banning TikTok from all government devices.

In Alberta, the ministry of technology and innovation says a risk assessment was done and the decision was made to ban the social media app to ensure the integrity of all government IT devices including desktops, laptops and mobile devices.

Earlier this week the Government of Canada banned TikTok on any government issued phone. Since then other provinces and city’s have followed suit.

The worry is China’s part-ownership in the company that runs TikTok is too much of a cybersecurity risk.
