LETHBRIDGE, AB – Charges have been laid against a Lethbridge man in connection to a bomb threat.

At approximately 12 p.m. on Jan. 3, the Lethbridge Police Service says it received a report of an explosive device inside a moving company van.

The vehicle had parked along the 1000 block of 13th Street South after the business was reportedly told that the device was going to be detonated.

Officers searched the vehicle and no explosives were found.

A man was arrested without incident at a home on the 1600 block of Scenic Drive South.

Police say in a statement, “Following further investigation, it was determined the male was a client of the business and demanded his property be delivered immediately or he was going to remotely detonate an explosive device in the back of the van.”

Winston Wolfe, 52, of Lethbridge, is charged with one count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 22.
