Lethbridge police investigating report of explosive device in moving vehicle

UPDATE from Lethbridge Police Service: Officers have searched a moving van along the 1000 block of 13 St S. that was reported to contain an explosive device. No device was located. One male is in custody. Investigation is ongoing. Members of the public can resume normal use of the area.

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service says it is investigating a report of an explosive device inside a moving vehicle.

Officers received the report at approximately noon on Tuesday, Jan. 3 regarding a truck in the 1000 block of 13th Street South.

Police say the truck is parked and all of the occupants inside safely exited the vehicle.

“Police are currently evacuating some homes in the area as a precaution. Those impacted will be contacted directly by police,” reads a public advisory.
