Lethbridge man charged with first-degree murder

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Charges have been laid in connection to a woman’s death in Lethbridge.

Just after 11 p.m. on Dec. 27, officers were called to a home on the 2500 block of 13th Avenue North on a report of a disturbance.

Upon arrival, LPS says a man exited the home and was arrested. Inside the house, police say they found a woman who had sustained multiple stab wounds.

EMS responded and attempted life-saving measures, but she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to police, the suspect and victim were a married couple.

The victim has been identified as Shelley Dragland, 59, of Lethbridge.

David Albert Dragland, 59, of Lethbridge, is charged with one count of first-degree murder and has been remanded into custody.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 3, 2023.
