Nov 18, 2022 | 10:17 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The U17 AAA Medicine Hat Tigers are playing a charity game against the Okotoks Oilers in support of cancer awareness.

The team will be wearing custom jerseys that will represent the different forms of cancer they are trying to raise awareness for, and Okotoks will be taping their sticks the different colours as well.

Bob Ridley, the long-time voice of the Medicine Hat Tigers, will do the ceremonial puck drop prior to the game at the Moose Recreation Centre on Nov. 20 at 5:30 p.m.

The players are gathering Friday evening to make caramel/chocolate popcorn bags that will be sold during the game, and their jerseys will be auctioned off at the end.

In addition to the contributions from the players and team, there will as well be a silent auction with other donations, as well as a 50/50.

All proceeds will be donated directly to the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre, which is located at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.

Head Coach of the Tigers Kevin Riehl says, “I’m very proud to coach these young men that are committed to this cause, and helping out the Margery E. Yuill Centre. It’s just one of the several charitable programs we are going to pursue this year, and we are happy to give back to our community.”
