Campaign encouraging Hatters to spread kindness kicks off today

Nov 13, 2022 | 10:00 AM

Medicine Hat, AB–It is World Kindness Day today, an international day that was formed back in 1998 to promote kindness throughout the world.

The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta (CFSEA) in partnership with the City of Medicine Hat, the Medicine Hat and District Chamber of Commerce, and the What Matters to Hatters Coalition is launching a 13-week Spread Kindness campaign.

The campaign kicks off today and runs until National Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17th, 2023.

Throughout the campaign, these community partners will be engaging with Hatters to do something kind. There will be weekly social media themes and residents are encouraged to share how they are spreading kindness by using the hashtags #MHRAK and #SpreadKindnessYXH.

Niki Gray is the Executive Director of the CFSEA. She says “the resiliency, courage, and perseverance of our community has been remarkable through challenging times over the last couple of years. We are thrilled to collaborate with community partners to help spread kindness and highlight the wonderful residents of Medicine Hat who are doing random acts of kindness all year long.”

Gray says Spread Kindness YXH is looking for additional participants such as local businesses, nonprofit groups, schools, and sports clubs to initiate random acts of kindness.
