Tigers fall to the Blades in low-scoring affair

Oct 29, 2022 | 9:59 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Tabbies had a late push, but couldn’t complete the comeback over the Saskatoon Blades.

Recently acquired goaltender Evan May made his Tigers debut in the tilt, snapping Beckett Langkow’s ten game starting streak.

May did not disappoint in his start, keeping the puck out of the net for the first two periods of the game. Although on the other side of the ice, Blades goaltender Austin Elliot was having a parody performance keeping the Tigers off the board.

The tie would not be broken until 9:52 of the third when Blades forward Tyler Parr would find a way to get a puck by May on the powerplay.

That was not the end of the scoring for Parr as he was able to get his second on the powerplay again, a little over four minutes later. Making the score 2-0 in favour of Saskatoon.

Tigers Head Coach Willie Desjardins would elect to pull Evan May for the extra skater late in the game. Leading to Tyler Mackenzie getting his fifth goal of season to bring the Tigers within one.

That goal came with only six seconds to go in the period,. that ticked away following the centre-ice faceoff. Giving the game a final score of 2-1 in favour of Saskatoon.

Third star of the game went to Blades goaltender Austin Elliott, stopping twenty-eight of the twenty-nine shots he faced.

The second star of the game was taken by Tigers Goaltender Evan May, as he stopped twenty-nine of the thirty-one shots he saw in his debut.

Taking the honour of first star was Blades Forward Tyler Parr, having put both goals on the board for his team.

The hat is back in action Saturday against the visiting Victoria Royals at 7:00 p.m.

If not able to attend you can hear all the action on Wild 94.5 with voice of the Tigers Gino De Paoli.
