PBR returns to Co-op Place on Saturday night

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Professional bull riding returns to the Hat for the one-night-only PBR Robertson Implements Classic.

The two-round event will see the top 10 riders after the first round make it through to the second round of the competition where the overall winner will be decided. The winning rider will receive a maximum of 80 points in the world rankings.

This is the first time that Medicine Hat has hosted a PBR event since October 2021, when Co-op Place hosted the two-night Thunderbuck in the Badlands.

Professional rider Nick Tetz, who will be competing on Saturday night, says there’s nothing quite like going to a PBR event.

“It’s gonna be one of the most fun things you go to all year,” he says. “You know there’s not gonna be an atmosphere quite like it. You know it’s life-threatening, there’s excitement, there’s pyro, there’s loud music.”

Tetz has been surging as of late in PBR competition, coming out on top in two of his last three events. This has placed him second in the Canadian national standings, only 54.5 points behind the leader Logan Biever.

Talking about his recent success Tetz says he hasn’t changed how he rides necessarily, but the mentality he approaches each ride with.

“I get looking too far ahead, and worrying about you know if I don’t stay on this one (bull) here I can’t win this event,” he explains. “You know if you’re not winning it’s not fun, but if you are staying on it’s fun. So I just started focusing more on just riding the bull that I have, and if I don’t I’m not worrying about it too much there’s always another one.”

With a win this weekend Tetz would become the top-ranked rider in Canada, and be one step closer to securing the $50,000 bonus that comes along with it at the end of the season.
