MEDICINE HAT, AB – From 36 C on Wednesday to a frost advisory on Friday evening. Such is life in southeastern Alberta.

The first frost of this growing season is forecast tonight.

Environment Canada has a frost advisory in effect for its Medicine Hat-Bow-Island-Suffield area. The advisory is also in effect for nearby Cypress Hills Provincial Park-Foremost and Brooks-Strathmore-Vulcan areas. Regions up the Alberta-Saskatchewan boundary and west of Edmonton are also under the advisory.

Temperatures in some areas are forecast to drop below the freezing mark tonight, resulting in patchy to widespread frost.

The weather forecaster says to take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees.

Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.
