5 Dog Friendly Patios in Medicine Hat

Today is National Dog Day! Celebrate your furry friend this Friday by taking advantage of the beautiful weather and dining out on a pet-friendly patio. Recently a change to food regulation has made it easier for you to bring your doggy to dine outdoors, as long as they remain on-leash and do not need to pass indoors to reach the patio. Here are 5 restaurants and pubs with patios where you can celebrate National Dog Day with your best friend.

1. Medicine Hat Brew Co

Originally started in 1912, Medicine Hat Brewing Company was one of Medicine Hat’s first breweries. They have a taproom and welcoming patio. They have 22 kinds of beer on tap, not to mention a menu full of local favourites.

The brewery is closed Monday and Sunday, but you can pop onto their patio Tuesday through Saturday starting at 11:00am!

Earl’s is located on Dunmore Road (look for the big parrot if you’ve never been!) and has a large, accommodating patio. This restaurant has food options for everyone, with a diverse plat-based menu and unique sushi/raw dishes.

The patio at Earl’s also offers some shade, so your doggo will be comfortable while you dine.

3. Silver Buckle Sports Bar

The Silver Buckle Sports Bar has had its patio door open for dogs all summer! Every day your best furry friend can you to chill on the patio. They also provide water bowls for the dogs so they can have a drink, too!

The Buckle is open EVERY DAY of the week starting at 11:00am. You can find them Downtown on South Railway.

4. Homestead Market

The Homestead Market is one of the newer additions to Medicine Hat, located on Gershaw Drive SW (essentially on your way to Echo Dale or the airport) and not only features a market of local goods inside, but also sports a lovely rustic patio. Bring your dog to hang out with you while you have a sandwich and coffee.

5. LOCAL Medicine Hat

LOCAL is definitely one of the downtown staples for eating out. It’s a Hatter favourite that allows dogs in the Summer months! When Summer hits and LOCAL extends their patio to include the boardwalk (the area outside of their permanent patio) your pupper can enjoy a stroll and a snack – if you’re one of those people who can’t resist those puppy dog eyes when you have something tasty.
