Police Point Park programs focus on bats and beads

Jul 2, 2022 | 9:04 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Things will get batty and beady over the next two weeks at Police Point Park.

On July 7 and 14 a special guest interpreter will be at the park to talk about bats and everything batty. Bats are an important part of the ecosystems of Medicine Hat.

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program says you can learn cool facts about the different species of bats that are found in the area and meet a live little brown bat.

The presentations start at 7 p.m.

In between the bat presentations, a Metis beading workshop will take place on July 9 from 1-3 p.m. The program will be taught by a Metis park interpreter.

The specific type of beading is a mixture of two cultures: the flower embroideries of French-Canadian nuns and First Nations beading.

Call 403-529-6225 to register for the workshop. You can pay by donation if you bring something to bead on. A hat or tote bag will be provided for a $10 fee.
