Junior ‘B’ Sun Devils lacrosse club folds due to dwindling roster

MEDICINE HAT, AB – After three years away from the floor, the Medicine Hat Junior ‘B’ Sun Devils will not be returning to action.

The Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League officially announced on social media that the Sun Devils will be folding operations due to a lack of players available.

It’s the end of decades of competitiveness for the Tier II franchise, which won a trio of provincial championships in 2006, 2010 and 2013.

Most recently, the Sun Devils completed the 2019 RMLL season with an 8-6 record before bowing out in the second round of playoffs.

Despite the success, the Medicine Hat club has not played a game in close to three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a dwindling roster of players.

There is a proposal from Lethbridge-Taber-Brooks minor lacrosse to potentially field a team for the 2022 RMLL season however, which would give Junior ‘B’ level players in southeast Alberta a chance to play.chat
