Local Ukrainian-Canadian speaking at Veiner Centre Stands with Ukraine fundraiser

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A local Ukrainian-Canadian is giving a speech on the conflict overseas and the threat of a nuclear war at the Veiner Centre on Tuesday, March 22nd.

At the Veiner Centre Stands with Ukraine fundraiser, John Cherwonogrodzky, who’s a former scientist and ran his own biothreats consulting business, will be talking about the conflict overseas and the threat of a nuclear war.

Cherwonogrodzky was born in Canada to Ukrainian-born parents and he has close ties to the country with family still living there.

Ever since Ukraine came under attack, Hatters have gone to him with questions. While the thought of nuclear war makes him nervous, he can’t see it happening.

“With regards to the nuclear war and it escalating, I don’t think so,” Cherwonogrodzky said. “I really don’t think so. Nobody is crazy, nobody is going to go that way. So I do not see a nuclear war happening, I do see maybe the use of a tactical small nuclear weapon to scare Ukraine and NATO into giving whatever Putin wants.”

The Veiner Centre’s fundraiser is being held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and all proceeds raised will go towards the Canadian Red Cross to support Ukraine citizens.
