Kerby operates city seniors' centres

Hatter added to Kerby Centre board

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A Medicine Hat resident has been named to the board of directors of Kerby Centre, the operator of the Veiner and Strathcona Centres.

Gordon Nott has a long history on community volunteer boards and will bring a local perspective to the Calgary-based organization. Nott is currently regional director for Alberta Council on Aging and chair of the Medicine Hat Senior Citizens Advisory Committee Foundation.

“I look forward to supporting the Kerby administration team here in our city and building upon the opportunities and programs already available,” he says in a release from the City of Medicine Hat. “Their enthusiastic work to enrich lives within our senior community is inspiring and I cannot wait to start.”

Coun. Andy McGrogan says the city is confident that member needs will continue to be met will continue to be met with the inclusion of Nott’s voice and passion for bettering the lives of local seniors.

Staff in Medicine Hat operate a variety of programs at the two seniors’ centres, as well as the Meals on Wheels program.

Kerby Centre CEO Larry Mathieson says the team has exciting and innovative programs to expand on the already impressive offerings of Veiner Centre.

Kerby Centre took over from the city as operator of the Veiner and Strathcona Centres last year.
