MEDICINE HAT, AB – Prince Albert’s Reece Vitelli had a pair of goals as the Medicine Hat Tigers’ scoring troubles continued for a fourth straight game on Monday.

It was another struggle offensively for the Tigers who were limited to just one goal by the Raiders in the 4-1 Family Day matinee loss, netting just five goals over their four contests this week.

Medicine Hat’s second longest losing streak of the season, it’s now been seven straight games without a victory for the black and orange who are still without a win in February.

After going 0-for-19 over their most recent power play opportunities, it was Owen MacNeil finally ending the drought 7:08 into the game picking up a loose puck in the slot for his seventh goal of the year.

Prince Albert responded with a power play goal of their own with 6:54 left on the clock in the period, as Tigers captain Daniel Baker inadvertently kicked the puck into his own net which was credited to Raiders winger Sloan Stanick.

That 1-1 score hung around through the third period, when Vitelli snagged the puck and went inside-outside on Medicine Hat’s defence for a highlight-reel goal just over four minutes into the period.

Vitelli added his second of the game on the power play midway through the frame with a one-time blast, while Keaton Sorensen buried an empty-net goal for the Raiders.

Medicine Hat’s Brayden Boehm was ushered to the locker room in the game’s final minute after taking a high hit by Prince Albert defender Trevor Thurston who was given two five-minute penalties and a game misconduct.

Dropping all three games over the long weekend, the Tigers head to Regina to battle Connor Bedard and the Pats on Wednesday night.
