THUNDER BAY, ON — A Medicine Hat man is returning from Parliament Hill after spending the last two weeks in the nation’s capital giving free haircuts to protestors.

Calvin Maltin of Issac’s Barber Shop arrived in Ottawa on Feb. 5, with the goal of doing his part in supporting Canadian democracy.

His label on social media was “#freedomcuts”, and he says he cut the hair of over 30 truckers.

Maltin was on hand for a festival-like atmosphere at the protest camp but says things were more solemn during weekdays when fewer protesters were there.

But overall, he says it was a great experience, and that he was happy to meet with like-minded people.

“It was the most beautiful experience probably of my life. I’ll never forget that, that time. And I wish everyone had have gone. I wish everyone had just showed up to Ottawa because… it was truly.. it was godly. It was godly,” Maltin told CHAT News.

Maltin says he believes Friday’s arrests of protesters in Ottawa to be an example of tyranny by the federal government.
