Keith Ritz diving into county councillor role

DUNMORE, AB – Cypress County’s newest councillor is hitting the ground running.

On Feb. 11, Keith Ritz was officially declared the winner of the byelection to represent Ward 9 – Suffield.

On Tuesday, Ritz was in council chambers in Dunmore for his first council meeting.

“You get elected and take on the responsibility and you go with it,” he says. “You run to win and when you win you go.”

He says there was a lot of paperwork thrown his way as he learned about the roles and responsibilities of a councillor.

Ritz adds a lot of it was what he expected for his first meeting and doesn’t think he’ll have any trouble fitting in.

“Once you get a couple board meetings, couple council meetings you’ll figure out how you can contribute and I think I can already contribute,” he says. “So you know you ask questions and you get clarification and away you go.”

Ritz says summer projects and water and garbage issues are some of the things he’d like to deal with for Suffield residents.
