Alberta is pausing its plan to change how traffic ticket challenges are dealt with.
The United Conservative government’s plan was to bring in a system that would charge a driver a fee to challenge a ticket and replace traffic court for some cases with an online process.
The government says it will now consult with Albertans for the next three to four months before making any changes.
The plan was designed to free-up court and policing resources, but it drew criticism from people who say it would make drivers who get a ticket guilty until proven innocent.
