MOOSE JAW, SK – Robert Baco’s shorthanded breakaway goal to complete a hat-trick performance served as the punctuation mark on a tough night for the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Kicking off three games in three nights on the road Friday in Moose Jaw, the Tigers allowed five consecutive goals to the Warriors in a 6-2 defeat at Mosaic Place.

Baco completed his first career hat-trick for the Warriors, while Medicine Hat was only able to solve Moose Jaw netminder Carl Tetachuk twice on 27 shots.

The Warriors needed only 1:35 to open the scoring at home, as Jagger Firkus completed a beautiful cross-ice feed to Brayden Yager to put the home side up early with a 1-0 lead.

Recent Tigers signing Carter Chorney was able to respond with his first goal in black and orange before the end of the period to tie things up though, finishing off a passing play started by Owen MacNeil and Ashton Ferster.

Despite the Tabbies holding the advantage in shots in the second period, the Warriors capitalized with a pair of Baco goals fed from Eric Alarie and Ryder Korczak to give Moose Jaw a two-goal lead heading into the third.

Yager added his second of the night with some nifty hand-eye-coordination a little over four minutes into the final frame, batting a Firkus pass out of the air past Beckett Langkow to make it 4-1.

Baco completed the hat-trick midway through the third on a shorthanded breakaway after Medicine Hat’s Bogdans Hodass got tangled up with a linesman, keeping momentum firmly in Moose Jaw’s control.

Alarie found the back of the net off the rush to make it a 6-1 game, before Tigers defender Rhett Parsons sniped his second goal of the season to bring the scoring in Friday night’s tilt to a close.

Even though he made some excellent saves in the loss, Langkow allowed six goals on 22 shots against to see his record on the year fall to 2-8-1-1.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Tigers on Saturday night, playing host to the Lethbridge Hurricanes at 7:00 pm in the first of two straight games this weekend at Co-Op Place.
