Over 1-thousand Omicron cases in Alberta

Medicine Hat, AB–The Omicron variant is spreading across Alberta.

872 cases of Omicron were identified since Friday bringing the total number to 1045.

The total number of COVID 19 cases confirmed since Friday was 1,925 (577 on Friday, 721 on Saturday, and 627 on Sunday.)

There are 5,652 active cases in the province and 334,004 recovered cases in the province.

Alberta’s total cases from the start of the pandemic is 342,948

There are now 324 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 69 of which are in ICU, and 3,292 deaths, an increase of 6 since Friday.

The positivity rate is about 6.21 per cent.

There are 37 active cases of COVID-19 in Medicine Hat on Monday.

Medicine Hat has had 4,634 total cases – the 37 active, 4,519 recovered and there have been 78 deaths.

Among Hatters five years old and over, 80.5 per cent have received at least one dose of vaccine and 75.3 per cent are fully vaccinated.

76.5 per cent of all Hatters have received at least one dose of vaccine at the latest update and 71.5 per cent of Hatters are fully vaccinated.

Alberta has administered 7,322,559 doses of vaccine at the latest update.

Cypress County has totaled 876 cases. There are eleven active cases, 859 recovered and six deaths. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 69 per cent, the two-dose rate is 64.6

The County of Forty Mile has 345 total cases. There are no active cases, 340 recovered and there have been five deaths. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 42.4

Brooks has 2,107 total cases — six active cases and 2,077 are recovered. Brooks has recorded 24 deaths.

The County of Newell has a total of 529 cases — 15 active cases, 506 recovered and there have been eight deaths. The latest one-dose vaccination rate for all ages is 68.6 per cent, the two-dose rate is 63.4. The Newell numbers include the city of Brooks and part of Special Areas No. 2.

Not all the areas on the vaccination data map match the case count map.
