Food prices in October increased at the fastest pace in nearly 7
Gas prices up 43 %; food prices 4.7 %

Annual inflation rate in November holds steady at 4.7%

OTTAWA — A 43.6 per cent jump in gasoline prices fuelled a 4.7 per cent increase in the annual inflation rate in November.

Statistics Canada reports last month’s inflation rate matched October’s increase, which was the largest year-over-year gain for the consumer price index since February of 2003.

Food prices rose 4.7 per cent in November from year-ago levels, which was the largest increase since January 2015.

Ontario; 5.0 per cent (4.9)

Manitoba; 4.6 per cent (4.7)

Saskatchewan; 3.7 per cent (3.2)

Alberta; 4.3 per cent (4.3)
