Plans for Arena memorabilia remain on hold, but not forgotten

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Fans hoping to be able to capture something to remember the old Medicine Hat Arena have not been forgotten.

New Rock Developments says it’s still planning something to allow people to remember the old building.

CEO Cam Ens says they still don’t have a timeline as to when they’ll be able to celebrate the historic building, as they’re still working with Invest Medicine Hat and the new city council on this file.

They had planned a major celebration for Sept. 25 but the fourth wave of the pandemic and public health restrictions put an end to that.

“We were really disappointed in the fact we had to cancel the event,” says Ens.

But Ens says they still plan on doing something, depending on the situation.

“I just want to assure people that even if we can’t do the event at the Arena in person, we’re still going to have something available for getting the seats or for being part of the memorabilia that’s left there,” said Ens.

Ens says they will update their plans on their Facebook page as well as the page dedicated to their Alto Living development, which will rise from The Arena site eventually.
