Ottawa to ease international flight restrictions Nov. 30

Nov 2, 2021 | 10:44 AM

OTTAWA – Transport Canada is easing its restrictions on international flight arrivals and increasing the number of Canadian airports where international flights will be allowed to land, effective November 30.

Eight more airports will be added to the list at the end of November.

  • St. John’s International
  • John C. Munro Hamilton International
  • Region of Waterloo International
  • Regina International
  • Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International
  • Kelowna International
  • Abbotsford International
  • Victoria International

Transportation Minister Omar Alghabra says higher vaccination levels have allowed Ottawa to open more airports to flights from abroad and he will give close consideration to more as conditions dictate.

He adds the federal government is working closely with airports and aviation operators to ensure they are in compliance with public health measures.

“Increased vaccination levels have allowed us to safely re-open these additional Canadian airports to international passenger flights. This measure will help ensure that travellers are able to access more regional airports for their international travels this winter, while continuing to support the Government of Canada’s measured approach to re-opening our border.”

The eight airports join 10 across the country that are already operating international flights:

  • Halifax Stanfield International
  • Québec City Jean Lesage International
  • Montréal-Trudeau International
  • Ottawa/Macdonald–Cartier International
  • Toronto Pearson International
  • Billy Bishop Toronto City Centre
  • Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International
  • Edmonton International
  • Calgary International
  • Vancouver International
