MEDICINE HAT, AB – With the election over, all of the signs that were put up in and around the city must be removed within three days.

The City of Medicine Hat is piloting a free sign recycling program. Starting today, an “election sign only” bulk bin is available at the recycling depot on Kipling Street.

Corrugated plastic, plastic firm and paperboard are all accepted.

A letter from the city to candidates who ran in the election

New councillor-elect Andy McGrogan didn’t waste any time collecting his signs as he spent the morning gathering them from across the city.

As a first-time councillor, McGrogan says the next four years will be fun, hard work and include tough decisions. He feels wonderful to be able to serve the city and citizens, but first things first.

“Today is just cleaning up all the litter that we caused all over the city so we’ve been busy with that since about 6:30 this morning,” McGrogan said.

The bin on Kipling Street will be available until Oct. 28. Those who ran are encouraged to reuse their signs if they run again in four years.
