Mobile clinics to roam Medicine Hat: City Hall

Oct 6, 2021 | 5:34 PM

The City of Medicine Hat is working on bringing back mobile, walk-up COVID-19 vaccination clinics.

The city’s director of emergency management, Merrick Brown, says plans are underway to have a mobile clinic travel about the city during the next three weekends.

Brown says the goal is to break down all barriers to getting the shot, considering Medicine Hat is below the rate of fully vaccinated eligible people (71%), compared to the number province-wide, 75%.

The mobile clinic also came to Medicine Hat College earlier this month. And Brown says previous excursions by the clinic have proven successful.

“We’re actually trying to get this in areas that are very open, very walkable, (and) very visible. You won’t see this at city facilities. You’ll see this in open areas, in areas that are readily accessible to the public,” Brown told city council this week.

City staff told CHAT News today details of where and when mobile clinics will be set up are still being fleshed out. They say more information will be released soon.
