Jul 4, 2021 | 8:26 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Yet another large fire in the Lethbridge area.

At approximately 1:15 am on Sunday, July 4, firefighters were called to the 2500 block of 60 Avenue West, the Cottonwood Park area.

Three stations with eight units from Lethbridge, along with assistance from crews from Coaldale, Coalhurst, and Picture Butte responded.

The blaze impacted a large grassy area as well as several buildings and haystacks.

β€œThe extreme hot weather over the past week has made grass conditions very dry causing the fire to spread quickly,” reads a media release from Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services.

One firefighter was taken to hospital but later released.

Damage estimates are not available at this time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
