WestJet service to Medicine Hat resuming after more than three-month suspension

MEDICINE HAT — As more public health and travel restrictions are lifted, WestJet is ready to resume service to Medicine Hat.

WestJet suspended flights in and out of Medicine Hat on March 21, at the start of the third wave of the pandemic.

It was part of a larger service reduction by WestJet, that also impacted Lloydminister, London, Ont. and St. John’s, Nfld.

However, Morgan Bell with the airline says they’re extremely excited to be able to announce that service through WestJet Link will return near the end of this month.

“We will be starting on June 27, which is the Calgary to Medicine Hat flight, and that will be three times weekly. The first flight back out of Medicine Hat to Calgary is the following day on June 28” says Bell.

Service will ramp up to five times weekly starting in the week of July 5.

Bell says the airline appreciates the patience and understanding from the Medicine Hat community and continues to encourage the government to make Canada’s safe restart a priority, which will accelerate the economic recovery and restore jobs.
