LETHBRIDGE, AB – A group of mayors are coming together to ask the public to not let their guards down when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a video posted to YouTube, several elected leaders urged Albertans to follow public health advice.

Included in the video are the mayors of Lethbridge, Brooks, Banff, Jasper, Calgary, Canmore, Red Deer, Edmonton, and Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo.

They shared the message that “it’s on me” to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by following public health measures, washing your hands often, practicing physical distancing, covering coughs and sneezes, socializing virtually, monitoring for all symptoms, wearing a face mask in public, staying home when you’re sick, getting tested for the virus, and getting vaccinated when you become eligible.

The mayors say these steps will help to protect the health system, front-line workers, and each other.

In a Facebook post, Lethbridge Mayor Chis Spearman adds, “We must work together to get through this together. We can’t give up now, we need a unified front and we need your continued support to stop the spread of #COVID19.”
