DUNMORE, AB – Positive cases of COVID-19 are connected to two schools in the Prairie Rosie Public Schools division and close to 120 students and staff have been placed into quarantine.

There are three cases – two connected to Seven Persons School and one connected to Irvine School. Close contacts were identified and a total of 57 students and 10 staff from Seven Persons School and 44 students and eight staff from Irvine School have been placed into quarantine.

Prairie Rose says the cases put both schools on Alert status.

“Those who are required to isolate will continue to be supported by the school through online and remote learning methods,” reads a release from the division. “Siblings and family members of close contacts are not required to self-isolate, however they are asked to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19. Out of respect for privacy and in accordance with AHS guidelines, we cannot disclose personal details about the positive cases.”

A case was also connected to the division’s Eagle Butte High School this week and also River Heights School in Medicine Hat Public School Division.

The schools remain open to in-person learning and the division is working closely with Alberta Health Services to ensure necessary measures are in place to protect students and staff. Custodial teams have been directed to conduct enhanced cleaning protocols of the school, including where the individuals were present and continuous attention to high touch areas and surfaces throughout the facilities.
