Rumble Alberta to bring tourism and traffic to small town’s province-wide

MEDICINE HAT, AB – You’ve probably heard of boxing’s famous Rumble in the Jungle. This summer, you can take part in multiple rumbles across Alberta – no boxing involved.

Rumble Alberta is a rubber tire tourism initiative to spur economic recovery in smaller communities.

“We’ve got an amazing province here and we really want to help basically keep the economics going here. These small mom and pop businesses, these little stores and stuff are what have made this province great and we want to bring the tourism and traffic to them to keep them going,” says Rumble Alberta sales rep and influencer Aaron Archibald.

“I’ve seen too many stores are boarded up. I own a DJ company myself, I haven’t had work for that since March of last year. So the idea is to drive this traffic.”

The group has created more than 50 routes across Alberta for riders and drivers to tour, many of which take you along the roads less travelled.

Eight routes are in the South Alberta series, including between Medicine Hat and Bragg Creek and between Dunmore and Milk River.

Archibald says there are somewhere between 400 and 500 communities across the province included in the routes.

They want to raise awareness about small town small businesses and attractions, he adds.

Support won’t come only from the riders and drivers directly. Archibald and other influencers will be doing interviews and reviews and posting photos on social media for sponsors.

“The idea is it all works hand in hand to just bring awareness to everything that’s out there,” says Archibald.

Archibald himself learned this past weekend what on the Bragg Creek to Medicine Hat route.

“I saw things I hadn’t actually seen before,” he says. “And we’re in the off-season, tourism’s not up yet, a lot of things are closed. But there’s little things that I never realized are out there.”

The official Rumble Alberta season takes place from the May long weekend to October. During that time there will be geocaching and challenges along the routes.
