DUNMORE, AB – After years of public outcries to do something about a dangerous intersection in Dunmore, the quest to have traffic lights installed is nearly complete.

The traffic signals at Eagle Butte Road and the Trans-Canada Highway are now flashing.

Alberta Transportation regulations require the lights to flash before they become fully operational, which is expected to happen next week.

In November of 2019, Cypress County Council approved a design to improve the intersection, which has been the scene of numerous serious crashes over the years.

Cypress County contributed $800,000 towards the $1.2 million cost of the project.

Motorists will also notice a new stop sign where Eagle Butte Road meets Third Avenue, making the intersection a three-way stop.
