MHC education program students present “The Show Must Go Online!”

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat College education program students are putting their acting, singing, and dancing skills to the test tonight.

The class is presenting their annual production virtually this year.

And the play is quite fitting, it’s called “The Show Must Go Online!”

The musical is about a frazzled drama teacher who records a video message; sharing with her students that their show must be cancelled. The students must come together and put on a show online to save their drama club.

The class of 32 students have all played a part in putting together the online production.

And it was also produced virtually on Google Meets.

Amber Kornelson is in the college’s education program, she says this experience really resonates with them as students because it shows a lot of similarities between their experiences of having to go to online classes.

This project happens every year in the program’s music class.

It’s so students learn how to produce a play in their own classroom once they graduate.

Kornelson says it has been a rewarding experience.

“For many of us in our cohort we’ve never done anything like this before so just the opportunity for us to do some singing, do some dancing, put in all this hard work and learn how to put on something like this and then be able to look forward and think about how we can do this in our classroom is just exciting.”

“The Show Must Go Online!” premieres tonight at 7 PM for free.
