Pedestrian killed walking on highway on Siksika Nation

SIKSIKA NATION, AB – RCMP in Gleichen are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian.

Mounties say they received a call at 9:01 p.m. on Jan. 5 about a vehicle and pedestrian collision on Highway 901 about four kilometres south of Highway 1 on the Siksika Nation.

Early investigation found a 30 year-old male was walking on the roadway when he was struck by an eastbound semi-tractor. He was pronounced dead by EMS.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

The RCMP collision analyst is assisting investigators and the provincial medical examiner.

No criminal charges have been laid and the investigation is ongoing. RCMP say the name of the deceased will not be released.
