Collection continues for Caring Coats campaign

Dec 18, 2020 | 11:38 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Caring Coats campaign continues to collect warm clothing for residents in our city.

The Post is the drop-off spot, they are then donated to the Salvation Army.

Manager of The Post Jamie Nelson says considering the COVID-19 restrictions, there has been a good turnout so far, but there’s room for more.

She says they are short on men’s large and extra-large coats.

Winter gear like toques, mitts, and scarves are also accepted.

Nelson says winter isn’t just during the Christmas season and donations can continue into the new year to help those in need stay warm.

“I think us coming together as a community is huge. And this is what The Post, CMHA, and Salvation Army are here for, to help those in need. And so I would imagine it would be a wonderful blessing to them to be given the opportunity to have warm clothing, and that makes us really happy. We’re doing what we love to do and we’re helping people so that’s huge,” Nelson said.

Donations for Caring Coats can be dropped off at The Post with the cashiers.

Or at the back loading dock, by ringing the yellow buzzer.

Just specify that the donations are for the Caring Coats program.
