MEDICINE HAT, AB – Wednesday’s Remembrance Day ceremony in Medicine Hat will be a virtual affair with space limited to 100 individuals to attend in person at the Riverside Veterans’ Memorial Park cenotaph.

However longtime sponsor of the commemoration Cook Southland Funeral Chapel will be live-streaming the event on its Facebook page.

Rod Krushel, Cook’s owner and funeral director, said the effort to bring the local ceremony into Hatters’ homes is important so, “that our veterans are recognized in our community and throughout Canada.

“That’s why we decided to team up with the Royal Canadian Legion and we decided to try to make this work.”

Krushel says the live-stream will commence at 10:45 a.m. and run until the ceremony is over, subject to internet connectivity.

The ceremony will be limited to invited dignitaries and those who have pre-registered for the commemoration.

There will be an opportunity for the public to mark Remembrance Day through a drive-by parade event starting at 10 a.m. at Co-op Place.
