Quebec reports 28 new COVID-19 deaths, while Ontario adds 13 more fatalities

Nov 5, 2020 | 10:23 AM

Canada’s two biggest provinces are reporting more COVID-19 deaths today.

Ontario has 998 new cases of the novel coronavirus in its latest update, along with 13 fatalities.

It also says there are 68 new cases in publicly funded schools — with 37 of those among students, seven in staff, and 24 unspecified.

Meanwhile, Quebec is reporting 1,138 new infections and 28 deaths, 10 of which occurred in the last day.

Opposition parties in that province are demanding the government release a document from Montreal’s health authority, obtained by Radio-Canada, that is calling for gyms, museums and libraries to reopen.

Most of Quebec has been moved to the highest pandemic-alert level, under which gyms, bars and entertainment venues are closed and gatherings are banned.
