Pair flees from police twice, caught after vehicle disabled by OnStar

GLEICHEN, AB — A vehicle stolen in Saskatchewan was recovered near Cluny, Alta. last week and two people are facing more than a dozen charges.

According to a release from RCMP on Monday, Brooks, Bassano and Gleichen RCMP were told at about 10:45 a.m. on July 16 by Yorkton RCMP that a stolen vehicle was thought to be travelling through southeastern Alberta.

Before the occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody they fled from police at a traffic stop near Bassano and from a gas station near Cluny.

Mounties worked with OnStar, which disabled the vehicle and directed police to the vehicle near the Trans-Canada Highway and Range Road 213.

RCMP took the male occupant of the vehicle into custody without incident. The female brandished what police believed to be a sawed-off long barrel firearm. She was eventually taken into custody without further incident.

Elisabeth Tuckanow, 24, from Yorkton, Sask. and Isaiah Sparvier, 25, from Regina are scheduled to appear in Siksika Nation Provincial Court on Aug. 27.

The pair are jointly charged with:

  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace (two counts)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm in vehicle
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of illicit cannabis

Tuckanow has also been charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Operation while prohibited

Sparvier has also been charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Operate motor vehicle while unauthorized
