Three new COVID-19 cases in Medicine Hat and Cypress County

Medicine Hat and Cypress County have each recorded three new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Medicine Hat now has nine active cases and 36 recovered cases and one death, which was announced on Thursday.

Cypress County has seven active cases and 21 recovered. All seven have been confirmed over the past three days.

Province-wide, there were 57 new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours, nearly half of which – 25 – are in the South Zone. The County of Warner accounts for most of those; the area southeast of Lethbridge recorded 18 cases since the Thursday update.

The South Zone has a total of 1,258 cases. Of those, 73 are active and 1,274 recovered and there have been 11 deaths.

According to the newest numbers on alberta.ca, there are 572 active cases in the province, an increase of 30, and 7,532 recovered, an increase of 27. There are 42 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, nine of which are in ICU. The death toll remains at 155. Over the past 24 hours 6,739 tests were completed.

In Brooks, there remains one active case. There have been 1,119 total cases in the city and 1,109 are recovered. Brooks has recorded nine deaths.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw announced July 2 that she will not be providing daily updates next week but that the online numbers will be updated daily. She also said the numbers will not be updated on the weekend.

On May 11, the province began putting a more detailed chart online for each zone.

The County of Newell is showing zero active cases and 20 recovered.

The County of Forty Mile has two confirmed cases both listed as recovered.

The MD of Taber now has six active cases and two recovered.

Special Areas No. 2 has no cases on the map. There was previously one recovered case and one death attributed to the region.

The City of Lethbridge has 43 cases, eight listed as active and 35 recovered. Lethbridge County has three cases, all considered recovered.
