AIRDRIE, AB – A Medicine Hat animal pound and rehoming organization is bringing puppy love to Airdrie.

Since April 1, Alberta Pound and Rescue Centres has been working at a new shelter in the community north of Calgary, offering the reuniting and rehoming services it has become known for in the Gas City.

“We couldn’t be more excited to be operating in Airdrie,” said founder and president Kevin Maurice. “On top of a strong community full of great people, Airdrie has a great Municipal Enforcement team that we are excited to be working with. They have been great so far and I know that relationship will continue to grow.”

Maurice adds Airdrie has never had a service like APARC’s and is excited to fill the need in the community and helping vulnerable animals.

APARC began operating on Jan. 1, 2016 in Medicine Hat and has worked with thousands of pets since. Most of its work is with domesticated animals such as dogs and cats, but has experience with just about anything people keep as a pet.

Since its first days in Medicine Hat, APARC has become a fixture in the community and hosts numerous fundraising each year. Maurice says they look forward to the same community involvement in Airdrie.

“We’re really looking forward to hosting events like book sales and bake sales in Airdrie,” said Maurice. “We’re looking forward to working in Airdrie for years to come.”

Maurice says social media is the best way to keep up with everything APARC in both Medicine Hat and Airdrie.
