“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” -Margaret Wolfe Hungerford

The beauty of shopping at a thrift store is that every day is a surprise when it comes to our products and what’s on the shelves. We never know what we are going to get in and sometimes it can feel like Christmas. Many donations come from various different places such as estate sales, cleaning out your closet, spring cleaning, redecorating, business shutdowns, hotels, garage sales etc. Doing a big house decluttering and/spring clean up/redecorating allows many to be out with the old and in with the new.

Here at The POST we receive MANY different items, and sometimes even hidden treasures. It is very exciting to come across an item that is antique or eclectic in nature, old, vintage, a collectible or just simply a one of a kind item. We have seen items such as very antique hand carved vases from Israel to collectibles valued at higher monetary values such as pocket watches, collectible toys that are many years old, antique furniture, memorabilia and so much more. These items are always so fun and exciting to receive as we get to research the history, background, origin and value of the item. At The POST we have many staff and volunteers that are extremely knowledgeable in certain products, genres and areas and are our go-to people when looking to price such items. Much research is put into finding the value of these items so we can price them at a fair, reasonable and lower cost for our customers. We understand that people like to collect series of items, or certain aged items and here at The POST, we have something for everyone in each one of those categories.

Whether it be a vintage outfit or piece of furniture, to a delicate china set or a hand carved item, The POST has it all. Sometimes the most pristine pieces aren’t the true gems either, sometimes it’s a beautiful shelf that needs refurnishing, or a vintage skirt that needs to be re-hemmed. The beauty of the item is in the eye of the beholder. Thrift shopping is a way of giving clothes, furniture and other items a new life. Not only is thrift shopping a way to save a penny, but it also allows no limit to the creativity in your closet and household. We see items come and go daily, sometimes go out the door as quick as they came in. The beauty of a second hand store is that our stock is always being added to daily and there is always something new so you never know what your going to find.
