Alberta now under a state of emergency
EDMONTON – Premier Jason Kenney declared a state of emergency for Alberta in response to the COVID-19 pandemic a few minutes ago.
“This is an unprecedented moment in our history and decisive action is needed,” said Kenney. “We recognize that these measures will have a profound impact on the lives of Albertans, but they are necessary in the face of this growing pandemic.”
The move will prohibit any organized gathering of more than 50 people while also seeing limitations on food and beverage restaurants and bars.
Sit-down dining will be allowed at restaurants and cafes limited to a maximum of 50 patrons or 50 per cent capacity, whichever is less.
