Winter Storm Warning

Up to 40 cm of snow expected in southern Alberta as winter storm hits

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A winter storm warning is in effect for a swath of the southern part of the prairies, running along the US border from the Alberta foothills through to southwestern Saskatchewan.

Medicine Hat, Brooks, Cypress County, County of Newell and the County of 40-Mile are under a winter storm warning with heavy snowfall and hazardous driving conditions beginning Friday evening and expected to last through to Saturday evening.

Parts of southern Alberta are expecting up to 40 centimetres of snow with the highest accumulations most likely to occur in the southwestern corner of the province.

Southwest Saskatchewan is also expected to see heavy snow with Maple Creek, Shaunavon, Val Marie and the Cypress Hills also under a winter storm warning.
