VIDEO: Closing in on 4,000th broadcast Ridley looks back on journey with Tigers
MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat Tigers fans will have to wait a little while longer to celebrate one of the most remarkable milestones in junior hockey broadcasting history.
The Canadian Hockey League’s decision to suspend operations for their member teams, including the Medicine Hat Tigers, over the COVID-19 pandemic will see the local club’s final five games of the regular season postponned.
That includes Saturday’s planned contest between the Tigers and Swift Current Broncos at the Canalta Centre, which would have been the 4,000th career broadcast for play by play man Bob Ridley.
He currently sits at 3,998 games called over his 50-year career in Medicine Hat and is regarded as one of the most iconic junior hockey broadcasters in Canada.
