MHC drops opener in ACAC Womens basketball finals

Championship dreams end for Medicine Hat College womens basketball team

MEDICINE HAT — Keyano College jumped to an early lead and never looked back, as they ran past the host Medicine Hat College Rattlers to open the 2020 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference womens basketball championship.

Keyano led 14-7 after the first quarter and were still up 7 points when the final buzzer sounded in a 56 – 48 victory.

The loss sends Medicine Hat to the consolation side of the tournament where they will face NAIT at 3 pm today in the college gym.

NAIT was beaten by St Mary’s 76 – 36, even though the Lightning have only 8 players on their roster.

Lakeland College overcame a five point half time deficit in a come from behind 72-64 win over the Lethbridge College Kodiaks.

Olds College scored a 71-55 win over the U of A Augustana Vikings.

The Vikings play the L-C-C to start the days competition at 1.

Medicine Hat meets NAIT at 3.

The first semi final is at 6 when Olds plays Lakeland College.

The other semi final starts at 8 and features St Mary’s University and Keyano College.
