Province’s review of supervised consumption sites released
MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Alberta government has released its long-anticipated report on the impact of supervised consumption sites across the province.
According to the survey, 74 per cent of Medicine Hat residents surveyed are not supportive of having a supervised consumption site in their neighbourhood, while 21 per cent are supportive.
Over the coming months, the province will consider changes to supervised consumption services and other addiction treatment and recovery resources on a city-by-city basis.
Last year, an eight person independent review panel was appointed to look at the social and economic effects of the sites, including a look at crime and safety.
